Diabetes Self-Management Program
Watauga Medical Center is proud to offer the Diabetes Self-Management Education Program.
- Meet with a Certified Diabetes Educator & Registered Dietitian
- Learn the ABC's of diabetes
- Learn how to check your blood sugar & give insulin if needed
- Learn about the medications you're taking & what they do
- Learn about managing your diabetes & where to find resources to help
Through this program, you will have access to a Certified Diabetes Educator and Registered Dietitians to help answer any questions you may have. As a a member of the program, you will also be able to participate in Diabetes Education Group Classes.
Linda Bond is a Registered Nurse and a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) and has educated Diabetic patients in the High Country since she received her CDE in 2006. Linda has been employed by Watauga Medical Center for 31 years.
Paul Moore is the Assistant Director and Registered Dietitian for the Wellness Center, in addition to being an adjunct instructor at Appalachian State University in the Departments of Health, Leisure, and Exercise Science and Family and Consumer Science.
April Wiles is a Registered Dietitian, Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist. She has been employed by Watauga Medical Center as a Clinical Dietitian since completion of her dietetic internship in 1995.

Support group meetings are FREE for people with diabetes, their families, friends and caregivers.
They are held in the Watauga Medical Center Auditorium from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm.
