American Diabetes AssociationWatauga Medical Center is proud to offer the Diabetes Self-Management Education Program. Through this program, you will have access to a Certified Diabetes Educator and Registered Dietitians to help answer any questions you may have.

As a a member of the program, you will also be able to participate in Diabetes Education Group Classes.

Program Highlights

  • Meet with a Certified Diabetes Educator & Registered Dietitian
  • Learn the ABC's of diabetes
  • Learn how to check your blood sugar & give insulin if needed
  • Learn about the medications you're taking & what they do
  • Learn about managing your diabetes & where to find resources to help

**A referral from your physician is requried for participation.

April Wiles is a Registered Dietitian, Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist. She has been employed by Watauga Medical Center as a Clinical Dietitian since completion of her dietetic internship in 1995.

Support group meetings are FREE for people with diabetes, their families, friends and caregivers. They are held in the Watauga Medical Center Auditorium from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm.
