64-slice CT Technology
The fastest, most powerful computed tomography (CT) scanner on the market is available at Appalachian Regional Healthcare System. 64-slice CT Technology can synchronize with a patient's heart rhythm and capture images between beats, allowing physicians to obtain images so detailed they can see plaque on the inside of coronary arteries.
Cardiovascular services at Watauga Medical Center include diagnostic testing (echo, nuc, stress tests, ECG, tilt tables, cardioversions, TEE), peripheral vascular surgery, interventional cardiology and interventional radiology.
Coronary Calcium Scoring
Coronary calcium scoring (CCS) is a proven, non-invasive method that can directly identify plaque buildup in the coronary (heart) arteries. The coronary calcium scoring screen is a CT scan that only provides a small fraction of the dose of a routine chest CT.
