Employee Assistance Program
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is an excellent benefit program that has been developed for all Appalachian Regional Healthcare System employees and their families. We recognize that many things may prevent an employee from performing his or her work satisfactorily. Personal behavior and/or medical problems such as alcoholism, drug dependency, family and financial crisis can and do affect job performance and attendance. One of the most important aspects of the EAP is confidentiality. Information that is exchanged between employee, EAP Director and/or counselor, and community resource(s) is protected by Federal confidentiality laws and cannot be shared with anyone without a written consent from the employee.
Employees of Appalachian Regional Healthcare System are encouraged to use the EAP on a voluntary basis when they need professional help or guidance. Self-referrals are not only accepted, but encouraged. The earlier one gets help the better. Because the Network is highly confidential, employees may benefit without having to share details with their supervisors. Employees may also play an important role in encouraging each other to use the Network. Often a suggestion from a co-worker to seek assistance is most effective. For the EAP to be effective, each of us has to care about our co-workers and be prepared to act on their behalf - everyone benefits and the improvement in lives is immeasurable.
The Employee Assistance Program is now opening this program to area businesses/organizations. For more information about EAP, call (828) 263-0121.
